Athletics
Developing one’s head, heart, and hands requires the discipline of the body as well as the mind. This is the reason we require all students to participate in an organized team sport or other athletic activity (e.g., Walking Club or local 5K charity runs). As a member of the Mississippi High School Activities Association, Piney Woods competes with public and private schools throughout our state in the following athletic sports:
The Piney Woods Post Graduate Program offers students an opportunity to take advantage of a “Gap Year” after high school. Piney Woods’ post-graduate sports teams will compete nationwide against other post-graduate programs and some Junior Colleges offering a tremendous amount of exposure. Students will develop through program-specific learning while taking advantage of an extra year to increase a level of maturity, focus, and preparation. Students will take classes through The Piney Woods School/Hinds Community College and our daily structured schedule helps prepare students for the challenges presented to them as first-year college students. We offer a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge-based learning in the fields of agriculture, entrepreneurship, architecture, engineering, basketball, and other programs that PWS offers.
